It’s always hard to return to the real world after a blissful few days removed.
Last Wednesday, I drove down to Charleston to spend some time with the BFF and her family.
I met them out on Kiawah, where I missed the beach because I stopped in Columbia to spend a bit of time with my other BFF. I did, however, get to see the bike parade, which was pretty neat.
We also walked around the island a bit, where I spotted this marathon sign! I want to do the Kiawah Marathon now….
But seriously, if you’ve never been to lowcountry South Carolina, you’re missing out…
The next morning, we were up bright and not-so-early to tackle a run on the infamous Cooper River Bridge. This obviously wasn’t my first time around the
block bridge, but something about the mid-day heat, humidity, incline and wind made the run borderline insane. However, we all pushed through and made it!
I look happy in this picture, but I assure you, I am just delirious.

That afternoon, the girls went outlet shopping for both baby and grown up clothes. 1. Baby clothes are all so. very. adorable. and 2. I scored with a bunch of Banana Republic sale items and new sports bras. #runnerproblems
Fuel was for dinner, which is a caribbean taco place that was apparently featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Not surprising because the food was d.e.l.i.c.i.o.u.s. I got a fried goat cheese salad, which featured mandarin oranges, cashews, and a wonderful cocounut crusted ball of fried goat cheese atop a bed of mixed greens. On the side, some spicy, spicy boiled peanuts (so yum) and a margarita to accompany everything. Wonderful doesn’t even begin to describe it. Highly recommended!
On the last day, we got up and headed to the aquarium! For the many times I’ve been to Charleston, I’ve never been to the aquarium, so it was exciting for me, as evidenced by our official picture:
After we wore this adorable baby out by looking at fish and after he took a nice long nap, we headed out to the beach one last time.
It was early evening, the perfect time to soak up the last few rays of sunlight for the day without having to worry about frying to death.
All in all, it was a wonderful time with good friends. Special thanks to the Fricks for hosting me and to the Woffords for having such an adorable baby!
