Delicious Orchards
Ah, Delicious Orchards. What a wonderful place.
Delicious Orchards is a one-of-a-kind country market right near where I grew up. They have tons of absolutely delicious baked goods, a huge selection of fresh fruits and vegetables and a multitude of other delectable goodies.
The apple cider donuts always get me. They’re to.die.for. These donuts get shipped to my doorstep in South Carolina at least a few times a year. They have no preservatives in them, so they spoil fast, and they’re made with real, recognizable ingredients. I may or may not have a squished half dozen in my freezer right now. I also may or may not have gained a few pounds purely because of DO’s bakery department.
Delicious Orchards started as an apple orchard, so they have many apple goodies, including apple cider, apple pie, and the aforementioned apple cider donuts. I (luckily) got to enjoy all three during my visit!
I could spend several hours in the store, roaming around and looking at all the different things they have.
Their produce section is huge. Seriously the largest selection I’ve ever seen. There are samples throughout the aisles, so I nibbled on some Jersey tomatoes (fun fact: tomatoes are the state vegetable of New Jersey), chips and salsa (also yum) and washed it down with local cider. Could there be anything better?
Think of a local, more country Whole Foods.
There’s also a little cafe attached, where they serve sandwiches and other deli fare. You can pick up a smoothie at the juice bar or, if you’re visiting over the weekend, you can munch on a fresh apple fritter from the fritter shack.
After the checkout, they have a beehive on display, where bees are constantly creating honey. Pretty neat!
The only thing that would make DO better is if they had their own cookbook. Alas, no such luck.
If you’re ever hanging around Colts Neck, New Jersey, be sure to stop in and check it out. Obviously I love food so this unique market is right up my alley. It’s sure to please anyone who can appreciate local, wholesome, super delicious food.
