Baby W Shower
Yesterday I found out how difficult it is to host a party, eat and drink, and take nice pictures at the same time.
My best friend is pregnant with her first baby so this weekend we threw a shower for the mom and dad to be. I didn’t even get a picture of the hosts, let alone me and the mama. It was a crazy weekend, let’s just say that.

Here’s us just over two years ago! It’s a rarity to have all of our college friends in the same room, since everyone is now scattered across the country. It was so nice to see everyone and be able to celebrate something so wonderful. From what I’ve heard, people had a lot of fun, eating, mingling and catching up. At one point, most people were in the nursery talking about Glee. Gotta love it.

Everything went off without a hitch. People complimented all the little details around the house.

I got up early the morning of to run and prep the food. Running was awful, mostly because it was felt like three degrees outside. Snot was pouring out of my nose and my hands were ice cubes. I warmed up a bit towards the end of the run, but I still just wanted to get inside and throw myself in a fire pit.
Anyway, I made the platters of cheese and fruit. I wrote out little signs to go along with each food, using the same paper I used to make the invitations. The shower was nautical themed, so there were boats, anchors, sails, you name it.

White bean carrot salad, paprika smoked almonds, fruit, veggies, and spinach dip.

Katie Jane and Hannah, the other wonderful hosts, provided pigs in a blanket and white bean chicken chili for the non-vegetarians (a.k.a. everyone but me!). Mrs. Wofford brought over some ham. I cooked up some roasted rosemary potatoes.

The “dessert” table, with anchor shaped gingerbread cookies, strawberry cheesecake, chocolate chip cookies, pita chips and pretzels. Later we brought out some chocolate covered strawberries that went quick!

Spiked and virgin cider, virgin sangria and tons of beer. The cider also went fast, I suppose people enjoyed it!

The beautiful parents to be with their first furry baby. Their dog Tibi was sportin’ a bandana that said “big brother.” So cute!

These sailboats were so cute. Baby W Lil’ T is due on 1-19-11, hence the numbers on the sails.

As they opened gifts, we played a game of bingo. The presents were all numbered and we joked that whoever got bingo first got to keep the baby. MH’s grandmother won! We also hung all the adorable onesies on a clothesline for people to admire.

I got to see one of my other best friends, Sam! He happened to be flying into the Atlanta airport on his way home for Christmas, and stopped by for a bit. He’s coming up to Greenville next weekend, and all we’re going to do is eat delicious food nonstop, so stay tuned for that.

A split second after this photo, the clothesline fell down. Ha!

This photo looks familiar..

Apparently I was going for a more artsy look in the bridal shower shot.
All in all, it was so much fun to plan and put together. I’m glad everyone had a good time and I can’t wait to do it again. I also can’t wait to meet their precious baby boy in a few short weeks!
